The Siege of Jadotville
The Siege of Jadotville
The film will talk about the political crisis in the Congo, which covered the country after the proclamation of independence in 1960 from Belgium. For a long time, this African country was a colony and was governed by Europe, and as soon as the Congolets were given free rein, they arranged for their homeland the authorities, which grew into a civil war. As a result, in 1960 the UN peacekeeping mission was introduced there, and all Belgian forces asked to be removed. Not everyone retired, and in 1961 the Irish battalion, numbering 150 fighters, sieged three thousand French and Belgian mercenaries who worked for a mining company.
