1942. Miraculously, getting out of Krakow`s Nazis occupied by the Nazis, 12-year-old Romek finds refuge with his distant relatives. In a quiet village, no one will look for the son of respectable Jews, who decided to separate for his salvation. But here, among Catholics, Romek is forced to hide his roots. Here, remaining alone with his fear and despair, seeing death and betrayal with his own eyes and understanding the true price of friendship, he will quickly grow up, having forever assimilating a simple truth - a person remains a man, even if he preserves the fidelity of his conscience and his soul in the face of death.
