Bill Hayword, having left prison ahead of schedule after 8 years of imprisonment, finds out that his 11- and 14-year-old sons no longer live with their mother. The senior Dean tries to replace the younger Jimmy of his parents, but in the light of Bill’s liberation, social services are considering the issue of transferring them to an orphanage. Son and father conclude an agreement. Bill remains to live with boys for a week to reassure social services. A series of events leads to the fact that Bill will have to make a choice: to be a good father and go to prison again or throw his son in a difficult situation.
