There is a World War II, France is occupied by the Nazis. Harry Morgan lives on the island of Martinik, he owns a boat on which he carries rich customers to catch fish. Gerard, a participant in the resistance, with a request to secretly transport one of the leaders of the movement to Martinik, addresses Morgan. Morgan, who does not care about politics, refuses. But when Marie asks him to help get out of the island, he agrees to the deadly task of Gerard.
