Philip Abrams, the head of the post office in the south of France in the salon de provence, does everything to be transferred to Cassis, a paradise near Marseille. However, all his efforts and dreams are collapsing when, for a petty official violation, he receives a disciplinary translation for two years in the berg in the north, near Dunkirk. For people from the south of France, filled with stereotypes, the North is horror, the polar region inhabited by rude creatures talking in an incomprehensible language. To his great amazement, Philip Abrams discovers there a charming place, a warm team, hospitable people and acquires new friends.
