John came to New York from a deaf province. He dreams of becoming an `king` of advertising, but, faced with bitter reality, is forced to work as a clerk. John falls in love, marries. After the wedding, the newlyweds settle in a small standard apartment. A child appears, then the second. Life is complicated, material difficulties are increasing. In the family there is a misfortune: the daughter dies under the wheels of the car. John becomes scattered, he is fired from work. Need leads to disagreements in the family, the wife is going to leave John. But once he returns home happy - finally he earned the dollar. John was lucky, now he will work as a porter of advertising shields ...
