Three fifteen -year -old teenagers come to New England for a summer vacation. Two of them are interested in love affairs with peers, and the third is experiencing a real adult romance with a twenty -two -year -old woman whose husband left for the front. The young heart faces serious passions that make him make a difficult choice between feeling and sympathy, desire and compassion for a young woman who remained alone and therefore especially in need of tenderness.
