The Tragedy of Macbeth
Roman Polanski put a contradictory version of Shakespeare`s classical play about the Scottish nobleman, which was destroyed by the desire to occupy the royal throne. This is the first film by the director after the murder of his wife Sharon Tate Manson`s family. Saturated by graphic violence of Macbeth can be understood as an attempt to expel demons from his own real life. In any case, perhaps this is not the best adaptation of Shakespeare, but definitely the most inspired recreation of the cold barbaric spirit of those times. Rudeness and bloody cruelty on the screen are not an end in itself or irresponsibility, but a thoughtful interpretation, which is less amenable to conventional theatrical techniques and technology.
