The action takes place in the future, when people are deprived of the opportunity to express some emotions, because they ... are prohibited. This is the price that humanity pays for eliminating war from its life. Now books, art and music are outlawed. And any feeling is already a crime punishable by death. For the implementation of the existing rule, the forced use of the medicine `Prosium` is used. The government agent John Preston fights those who violate the rules. At one point, he forgets to take the next dose of medicine and spiritual transformation occurs with him, which leads him to contradiction with himself and with his superiors.
