A blond German boy Edmund Keler runs along the destroyed bombing Berlin in an attempt to find food for himself and his family. The rest of the household are completely demoralized by the collapse of an unshakable myth about the greatness of the nation. The ruins of the once beautiful city, woeful queues for free food, an attempt to sell the last and desperate attempts to find at least some meaning of further existence. There is an opinion that the defeat syndrome after victory can be overcome only by children`s consciousness. The boy absorbs this terrible world, and at some point crosses on the other side of good and evil.
