Metropolis is the city of the future, divided into two parts. Underground are the dwellings of workers, over them workshops with cars. In the upper city there are offices, rich quarters and entertainment gardens. All power in the city belongs to Magnata Joogan Fenderson. His son, Freder, guesses the injustice reigning in the metropolis. Going down to the machine zone, Freder is horrified: he sees terrible milk, devouring people. Unable to come to terms with what he saw, he begins to fight evil.
