The film is based on an incredible but real history of the struggle of the Iranian dancer Afshin Gaffarian for freedom of expression through a dance in a country where this type of art is outlawed. Using YouTube as a textbook, the protagonist together with friends creates an underground dance group. In the desert, far from the eyes of the police, they arrange a secret dance show. Despite all the precautions, this act of creativity, courage and disobedience entails events, because of which Afshin’s life is in danger. `Dancing in the desert` is a true story about youth, who risks its life in the struggle for human rights and the fulfillment of their dreams.
