In New York, a serial killer is operating. His victims are middle -aged men, fans of intimate acquaintances in the newspaper. But, unfortunately, the dates end for romantics deplorable: their naked corpses are found with a bullet in their heads, in the same pose ... To find the killer is entrusted to experienced detectives Frank Caller (Al Pacino) and his partner Sherman (John Gudman). The police come to mind a brilliant plan. They decide to place their own announcement in the newspaper and, thereby, catch the killer "on live bait."
