The story of the touching friendship of two girls from different social strata, accidentally acquainted on the beach in California. One is not very well -owned, vulgar Xi Bloom, dreaming of a show career - stars, and the second is a prosperous rich aristocrat Hilary Whitney Essex. But fate turns out to be cruel to them both: the rich and prosperous Hilary dies from an incurable illness, leaving a little daughter, and her unsuccessful, but faithful friend takes care of all the worries about the child.
