The film examines military events that took place in Estonia in 1944, during the July battles in Sinimaye to November, when the Syrve Peninsula was already conquered by the troops of the Soviet Army. The war is shown through the eyes of the participants in the events from both warring parties-the Estonians, who fought on the side of the German army in the 20th Estonian Waffen-SS division, and as part of the 8th Estonian Rifle Corps of the Soviet Army. For the inhabitants of Estonia, it was a war in which everyone made their own personal choice. It is with such a difficult choice that the main characters of the picture are faced - soldiers of the opposing sides of Karl Tammik and Yuri Yigi - as well as their colleagues, relatives, friends and completely strangers ...
