Wendy, a lonely girl from Indiana, decides to completely change her life and, realizing that nothing keeps her in her native places, collects things and goes to Alaska, where she is going to get a job at the fish conservation factory. On the way, Wendy is accompanied by the only native creature - her dog Lucy. On the way to the north, Wendy stops to spend the night in a small provincial town in Oregon, not suspecting that she and Lucy will have to stay here.
