The action takes place on a little-known border between the state of New York and Quebec, which is under the reservation of the Indians of the Mogavki tribe. Here, single mothers earn a penny are faced with a temptation of easy money that can be earned on smuggling. Two in the desperate position of a woman-mother-one white, one of the tribe of mogavs-are involved in smuggling across the border along the frozen waters of the River of St. Lawrence.
