The 30s of the last century, a distant corner of England. The family of 17-year-old Kassandra Mortmeine is on the verge of bankruptcy, and the old family castle in which she lives on the verge of destruction. The girl’s father, writer James Mortmeine, is desperately trying to repeat the long -standing success of his first novel, although over the past 12 years he has not been able to write a line. Rose’s sister, however, as well as on the stepmother Topaz, a follower of the philosophy of the “Naturists”, also has no hope.
