Two young people Jack Powell and David Armstrong from one small town are in love with Sylvia Lewis. However, Sylvia reciprocates David, and Jack does not notice the neighboring girl Mary Preston in love with him. After the US entering the First World War, young men fall into the aviation corps and become not only aces, but also friends. Trying to be closer to Jack, Mary joins the female mechanized corps, but the war covered long distances and they are almost never found. One single time Mary finds Jack in dismissal, but in the form that he does not recognize her and the meeting ends sadly for Mary herself.
