“In the rays of fame” are the chronicles of the 1988 season of the brave company - “Permian High Panthers” - the most successful football team in Texas’s history. Young team members perceive every game as a chance to break out of their small town, as a fleeting dream of star glory, the heights of which they can already reach their 18th anniversary. The picture draws a bright and expressive image of Odessa and similar towns scattered throughout America, where during the autumn season the town itself once a week and all the hopes of its inhabitants come to life under alluring Friday night lights.
