Longfello Deds, a village from Vermont, inherits the enormous condition of his uncle and becomes known to the whole country in one night. The whole town gathers at the station to hold Dida, a poet playing on a pipe, in New York, where he must take possession of uncle capital and move to a huge mansion. The cynical newspaper Macueide does not believe in the image of a simple honest person created by Didu in the press.
