Saving Mr. Banks
Saving Mr. Banks
The story of the production of the classical feature film Disney `Mary Poppins`. When Walt Disney promised his daughters to make a film according to their favorite book, the fairy tale of Pamela Travex `Mary Poppins`, he did not even suspect that he would need more than twenty years to fulfill this promise. In an attempt to get the right to film adaptation of the book, Walt was faced with the wayward and intractable British writer, who in no case did not want her beloved heroine to be "spoiled by" the Hollywood approach to the creation of films. Only in the early sixties did she agree to personally come to Los Angeles and begin negotiations on the film adaptation. For two weeks in 1961, while negotiations with Pamela Travex lasted, Walt Disney tried all the tricks. He presented ideas and sketches for the film, tried to impress the writer with magnificent music written by talented composers, the Sherman brothers, and even arranged excursions to Disneyland - however, Traverse did not go to any persuasion, and the famous filmmaker almost abandoned his plan.
