In 1935, a large family of McCurts, not finding happiness in America, returns to Ireland, where no one is waiting for them either. Having settled in a tight, raw apartment, they try to survive. Angela, on whose shoulders all household chores are exhausted, gradually losing faith in her husband. The Almighty seemed to forget about them. And the 6-year-old Frankie on the first participle is forced to admit that he is sinful. With this burden, he enters into adulthood.
