Italy. 1943. The young widow of Chezira throws a shop at San Lorenzo to the care of her former lover and runs from American bombing with her teenage, Rosette, to his native village. After an exhausting journey, she meets Michele, the son of a local farmer, in whom young Rosetta falls in love, and he falls in love with her beautiful mother. The days pass, the town is gradually filled with refugees, the bombing intensifies, and the products are becoming smaller and less, and Michele is forced to withdraw several Germans from the town safely, and Cherzira and Rosetta return to already safe Rome. On the way, mother and daughter are experiencing a tragedy that changes their life forever.
