The life story of a simple Irish guy Redmond Barry. Being still very young, he killed an officer of the English army on a duel. In order not to fall into the hands of the police, he had to leave his home and go to wander around Ireland. But his wanderings were short -lived. Having given all the money, horse and weapons to the robbers, he was forced to sign up in the ranks of the English army. Once in the war and having seen enough of all her horrors, he decides to desert. Having stolen officer uniforms, Barry goes to the location of the allies, hoping to secretly move to Ireland from there.
