The Replacements
The Replacements
The film starts with a football game in Washington. During the final minutes of the match, commentators John Madden and Pat Sammerol (play themselves) are discussing that, at midnight, all the league players begin to strike because of the breakdown of contract agreements with the owners of the teams. According to the League rules, the strike cannot continue after the end of the season, but for the local Sentinels team to participate in the play-offs, they need to win three of the last four games of the season. Edward O’Nille, the owner of the team, hires the former head coach Jimmy McGinti so that he compiles a temporary team of understudies during the strike. McGinti agrees with two conditions: O’Neill does not have the right to intervene in the trainer’s methods and the choice of players is at full discretion of McGinti. While other teams are recruiting a replacement from semi -professional or former professionals, McGinti collects a multi -minute group of players who have not played for a long time, which greatly surprises other team coaches.
