Five Catholic nuns-missionaries, led by sister Clodag, tired of the uncertainty and worldly passions, come to the distant Himalayan village to establish a school there. However, the collapse in relations with the local white settler Mr. Dean, the harsh climate, the growing craving for the house and, finally, the weakening faith soon lead women to understand that they remain either to leave this place or die.
