New Yorker Fielding Mellish is in love with the political activist Nancy, who does not see him point blank, since he is immersed in a revolution in one of the “banana” republics under the name San Markos. Having dressed up in the shape of a la Fidel Castro and putting on a fake red beard, Mellish is included in the revolutionary struggle and, by coincidence of the most ridiculous circumstances, becomes president of San Markos. Then he returns to the States, he is exposed as a crook, judged for subversive activities and, to universal pleasure, he marries Nancy.
