London, 30s of the last century. The wayward Miss Guiniver Pettigru has been fired from the post of governess. Having managed to steal the business card in the agency, the girl comes to the address and becomes a maid and then personal secretary of the young actress. The ecstatic employer introduces Guiniver into a brilliant theatrical world - and this begins! In one evening, Miss Pettigrew is transformed from a gray mouse to a lady from the upper world, achieves a role for his mistress, reconciles a quarrel of a couple and hopelessly falls in love.
