In 1928, in Egypt, archaeologists discovered a giant stone ring covered with mysterious hieroglyphs. For decades, the American military, who had begun to unravel the message, attract Dr. Daniel Jackson (James Spader), a supporter of the theory of extraterrestrial origin of the pyramids, for the study of the Egyptologist. He manages to read the inscription. Together unknown through the star gate, along with Jackson, a special appointment squad sets off under the command of Colonel Jonathan O’Nele (Kurt Russell). Star gates carry them over millions of light years from the ground, to a strange planet, to a place resembling an ancient Egypt: endless deserts, outlandish animals and slaves worshiping the God of the Sun RA (Jay Davidson). To find the way home and save humanity, the aliens will have to fight the army of the last representative of the powerful alien race, who learned that the door to Earth could be open again, after a millennium.
