The history of take -off and fall of Jonathan Shields, a ruthless and obsessed Hollywood producer, recall the closest people whom he betrayed at one time or another - the movie star Georgia Lorrison, director Fred Emiel and screenwriter James Lee Bartlow. Only the cinema existed for Shields, only for his sake he lived, and only success worried his woning soul ... The role could be written off from Val Lyuton, an extravagant producer of the 40s, the author of the “cat people”. But, most likely, the prototype was David O. Selnik, when he was still a producer of category “B” films and only dreamed of “Directed by the Wind”. The character of Lana Turner is easy to identify with Diana Barrymore, and Dika Powell (1904-1963) with writer Francis Scott Fitzgerald, whose novel with Hollywood ended bitterly.
