Former prisoner Johnny Clay plans to rob the hippodrome, hoping to disrupt the jackpot of 2 million. To implement a thorough worked out plan, he attracts four more people - a cashier, a corrupt police officer, a former alcoholic and a bartender. During the robbery, the plan collapses because one of the accomplices decided to make his changes to it.
