The owner of the estate Collinwood, Barnabas Collins, is rich, dominated and leaning Kazanova, until he makes a fatal mistake, breaking the heart of Angelica Boshar. Being a witch in the literal sense of the word, she doomes him to fate, worse than death itself - turns him into a vampire and buries him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas accidentally liberated from the crypt, and he finds himself in the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood and finds this once magnificent building in ruins. The miserable descendants of his family have survived only a little better than the generic nest, and each of them has its own “skeletons in the closet”.
