Paul meets Madeleine in a cafe, a conversation is tied between them - a strange and outwardly abstract, as is always the case with Godard. Paul writes poetry, is fond of left -handed ideas, he is an intellectual and a hero of his time, therefore it remains in the minority. He had just served in the army and perceives the citizen a little down. This is a “female”, that is, a cozy conformist life where they engage in shopping, build a career as a pop singer and want to resemble advertising characters.
