Events take place in the 10th year of the first war with Sylons. While the battle is raging between people and their creatures, the rational race of robots, on all 12 colonial worlds, the self -confident young pilot Wiper enters into a fight. Ensin William Adam, a recent graduate of the Academy, who is a little over 20 years old, discovers himself appointed on one of the most powerful ships in the colonial fleet ... a galaxy.
