In the midst of the Cold War in Washington, a flying saucer planted: the messenger Klaata and his mighty robot gort, delegated by the planet federation, are arriving in it to put the Ultimatum to the peoples of the Earth about the cessation of nuclear tests. The young people open fire on the spaceship and injure the messenger. Klaata realizes that the only way to agree with earthlings is to recognize them from the inside: he makes an escape from the hospital and begins his own study of the planet.
