Based on real events, the film tells about the incredible journey of the African slaves who capture the Amistad slave ship and try to return to their homeland. After the authorities finally arrest the ship, slaves are sent to the United States, where they go to prison on charges of murder. But for the defendants themselves, this is primarily a struggle for their rights and freedom.
