Mid-19th century. The dumb hell, along with a little daughter and beloved piano, leaves his native Scotland and moves to the other end of the world, to New Zealand, where she is waiting for the future husband Stuart. He refuses to deliver a piano to the house, which remains abandoned on the shore. Ada, not talking from the age of six, still shows her husband the whole depth of his anger. For this strong woman, silence is far from a sign of consent. Stuart`s neighbor Baines, similar to the savage, brings the piano, replacing Ada`s voice to his home. She can get him back, but only if she comes home to Baina and give him music lessons - by the number of keys. These lessons will lead them to the abyss of fatal passions ...
