Shia LaBeouf Joins Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis

He's been more known lately for his real-world controversy than acting, but Shia LaBeouf is looking to create more work-oriented headlines. According to Giant Freakin' Robot, he landed the lead role in Francis Ford Coppola's Megapolis.
This fall, Coppola is approaching the actual filming date for the massive, passionate project he's wanted to do for years. He had financial and casting problems (Coppola put $100 million of his own money into the film) but took a positive step forward when he cast Adam Driver, Natalie Emmanuel, Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne and Jon Voight in the film. . the main line-up, and shortly thereafter, Aubrey Plaza.
LaBeouf is among the new additions, which also includes Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman, Grace VanderWaal, Katherine Hunter and James Remar.
Little is known about the plot, but we do have the official logline: "The fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems in this epic tale of political ambition, genius and conflicted love."
There is no word yet on when the film will hit theaters.
