Michael Waldron Wrote A Reed Richards Post-Credits Scene For Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness – Exclusive

Contains spoilers for Doctor Strange: Into the Multiverse of Madness.
For years, Marvel fans have been waiting for Reed Richards (along with the rest of the Fantastic Four) to enter the MCU. Like the X-Men, they must transition into Kevin Feige's connected universe at some point - and in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, we got our first taste of the teasing. In a cameo-filled episode of Sam Raimi's sorcerer-centric sequel Illuminati, John Krasinski answered the internet's prayers and appeared as a variant of Mister Fantastic - before an enraged Scarlet Witch ripped him to pieces, spilling along with the rest of the Illuminati members (including Professor X Patrick Stewart).
It was a hilarious, short and gory appearance by Reed Richards, which screenwriter Michael Waldron admits is the film's most amazing cameo. - It's big, right? he chuckles, referring to Empire in the new issue. Writing for Mister Fantastic was a dream come true for him. “I always wanted Reed Richards to be in this thing,” Waldron tells Empire—so much so that even before the Illuminati episode came along, he composed a post-credits episode to satisfy his own curiosity. "In my very first draft, I just wrote a label saying that the events of the film are being recorded and viewed by someone in the Baxter Building and an outstretched hand appears in the frame to rewind it." It was an opportunity to do something with the superhero he's always loved on the page.
